We as a society are always busy we rush here we rush there in fact we rush everywhere. Technology which is supposed to make our lives easier has resulted in a plethora of devices which demand even more of our time To those with multiple mail accounts this can be a monumental task . What Is funny is that there are so many social media platforms available but when people gather together for a social event they are busy on their phones.
The truth of the matter is that everyone is in a big rush and have no time for anything. Nowadays you can have anything you need precooked or premade you can even get onions precut if you wish The trouble is people are working more to pay for the latest technology and obesity is at an all time high What is really bothersome is that nobody has time to enjoy the simple things in life.
There is an old saying Stop and Smell the Coffee Why not enjoy a walk , go to a conservation area with your family or get reacquainted with nature by yourself. Not only will you feel better but you will also notice your stress levels greatly reduced. One of the great advantages of this is that you will begin to notice and be more appreciative of your surroundings
If a world renowned classical violinist was to play in front of you for 45 minutes in a subway would you stop to enjoy the music The musician is Joshua Bell who played some of the most intricate pieces ever written for the violin and played to sold out crowds for $100 a person Yet when he played in front of thousands in a subway for 45 minutes he barely had enough money to pay for supper Here is the link for the story.
Life should be a joy, that doesn’t mean that it is easy, but neither should it be a burden.A few years ago I felt like a salmon swimming upstream and it definitely was not a great place to be
To start off with I was very unhappy at my workplace While it did supply an income I was afraid of leaving the job and starting all over again This is the situation a lot of us face and we just accept it After putting up with this for awhile, a catalyst occurred setting in motion a chain of events that would led me to quit my job and find something substantially better. While I was struggling with this there were all kinds of other negative things going on leading me to feel like a salmon swimming upstream.I have done a lot of reading since then and there are two things that I learned that I wish I had known at the time One is a quote by Wayne Dyer which states that no storm lasts forever meaning that everything will get better The second thing I noted is that if you are in a negative frame of mind you will have negative things happen to you.
So how did I find a better job Well thanks to my work ethics of being reliable honest and hard working I was able to get a much better job. Once I had a better job my luck seemed to change and a lot of the negativity disappeared. I did not get the job right away and I struggled for a few months
Does this mean that I encourage quitting no, not at all.But I do not recommend staying in a situation that is detrimental to your well being The point is that everyone has the right to enjoy a happy and fulfilling life. You are not destined to live in situations that bring you discomfort the rest of your life. You alone make the decisions that make your life and you alone control your destiny, it is never to late to change
One of the things I love to do is read and I dedicate at least an hour a day to reading non fictional books What really got my attention was that the last two books that I read both commented on being an Eagle and not a Duck
The first book that mentioned this was the one Minute Entrepreneur which credits Wayne Dyer with stating that there are two types of people in life Ducks and Eagles. Ducks are the victims and are always quacking Eagles on the other hand soar above the crowd
The second book to mention this is Full Engagement which states that large companies hire people based on their personality and temperament and then develop them into becoming valuable members of the corporate team. They don’t try to turn Ducks into Eagles. They hire Eagles and teach them to fly in formation. Both books mentioning the same thing seemed to be to much of a coincidence to me so I decided to write a blog post about it
Did you ever notice that no matter where you work there are always a bunch of ducks hanging about You can always tell who they are because they are always gossiping, doing the minimum amount of work and criticizing others. Eagles on the other hand tend not to hang out with ducks. The reason for this is simple you become like the 5 people you hang out with the most. In fact Anthony Robbins said he was so successful financially because he hung out with people making 25 million or more. Napoleon Hill was very adamant about starting a mastermind group. Both of these well known people knew full well the importance of associating with eagles.
On the entrepreneurial side we have Mari Smith who is a social media expert specializing in Facebook In fact she is referred to as the Pied Piper Of Facebook She is constantly offering webinars for free with tons of valuable information. When she offers a course or a book people readily buy it because they know it will be great quality.Michael Stelzner CEO of Social Media Examiner is another great example of an eagle He offers great information on his blog for free and then makes his money by having events such as the Social Media Success Summit which are packed with knowledgeable speakers.
To be an eagle is to go the extra mile , and help others without being concerned what’s in it for them. Can you be an eagle by going the extra mile at work, or if you own a business offering great service, dependability and your own twist that sets you apart from the duckpond
In 1906 an Italian economist by the name of Vilfredo Pareto devised a mathematical formula to figure out the unequal distribution of wealth in the country.Pareto observed that 80% of the wealth was owned by 20% of the population This principle is also known as the Pareto Primciple, the Pareto Law or the 80 / 20 rule.
The thing to bear in mind is that this is an observation and not a mathematical equation.Fast forward to today and we can still see that roughly 20% of the population owns 80% of the wealth. This rule applies to other areas as well, for instance 20% of the people in an organization do 80% of the work or20% of your workout routine yields 80% of the results
Let’s put this in a business prospective. How much time do you waste on emails.I’ll bet that only 20% or less are truly useful and the other 80% are time wasters How about Social Media where you have a wide choice of platforms available such as Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Pinterrest just to name a few .Are you getting the results you want are are you wasting valuable time. It is quite easy to get carried away Nobody can be good at everything there is . for instance Twitter requires a different strategy than Facebook .By creating a chart you can see what the 20% of what you do yields the 80 % of results Once you have figured this out you have a variety of options available.Depending on your financial situation you could outsource, delegate or even cut back on the time you spend on certain activities to ensure your time is well spent.
I am sure by now that you can think of a few things that are taking the bulk of your effort and resulting in minimum results Concentrate on what is actually yielding results and outsource or delegate the rest.
Have you ever heard the badger song. Chances are that if you have kids you have. This song can be quite annoying if played repetitively , however it also contains a valuable lesson as well The badger song consists of three main characters a mushroom, a badger and a snake.
We all know that mushrooms grow best in a dark environment and they are fed a lot of shall we say fertilizer. Imagine if you will, that the fertilizer level represents the endless barrage of useless information and junk about how to make money on the Internet. Out of this fertilizer a mushroom.grows. This represents the stage where you see a glimmer of hope and realize that others have made money and so can you. This is the realization stage and no action has been taken yet .
The next stage is the snake .This is the action stage which is symbolized by the snake shedding its skin. The third and final stage is the badger. The badger is tenacious and will not back down . This is where you have created a product And now have to promote it This analogy also works with other items. It helped me to leave a job and find something substantially better.
Now I am about to try something a little different . On a very limited budget I am going to go through steps and eventually make a few hundred dollars a month. The point of this is simple.1)to go through stages make money and upgrade. I have found a lot of people can’t even afford the basics 2) to show that people can help each other To keep the statistics legitimate I will tell what I used but will not provide links this way you can be guaranteed I am not getting an affiliate commission.I will also post articles on free or low cost items that will benefit you
You are pumped .You got your website planned you have picked a domain name. The domain registrar says the domain name is available Whoo Hoo!!!
Hang on there cowboy. Keep your hand on your wallet .There ain’t no cause for whuppin and hollerin yet.Just because a domain name is physically available there are some legal technicalities that might be impeding you.
I am telling you this from experience. I had a ready made website all ready to go, man was I excited , it had clickbank ads built in and a few other moneymakers. All I had to do was come up with a domain name. You ever have one of those moments when you think you are really clever when in reality you aren’t. Well that was what happened to me, I choose a domain name with the copyrighted name integrated into it.
The smoke hadn’t even cleared on my keyboard from registering my domain name well OK, 2 days later and I received a letter from the legal department of the company telling me that I couldn’t use the domain name , I couldn’t sell the domain name in fact I was to let the domain name expire.
Well of course I complied it was an honest rookie mistake. It turns out that if they had wanted to they could have charged me for using the name.It didn’t turn out so bad after all I got something to write about and I didn’t get charged Whoo Hoo!!
If you want to get anywhere with marketing you have to be focused with a clear set of goals. When first starting out many marketers are on multiple lists ,checking their email frequently, maybe a little facebooking and so on Oh and let us not forget buying the next item that comes along. If it is going to help you and your business that is different. However most people will jump from item to item with no clear plan.
So how do you gain back some lost time? First Have a plan with clear set goals . Secondly whittle down the lists you subscribe to and only go with those that can help you accomplish your goals. Work on one project at a time ,when you are finished move on to the next. I prefer a whiteboard but you can use a daily planner to plan your day. The advantage of this is you can plan your day into 1-2 hour productive chunks A lot of people work 10-12 hours a day trying to succeed but it has been proven that they are actually only productively working 2 hours. Cheer up , here is a poem from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Aug-1749 to Mar 1832 about this very subject and there were not as many distractions then as now.
Lose The Day Loitering
Lose the day loitering, “twill be the same story
Tomorrow, and the next more dilatory,
For indecision brings its own delays,
And days are lost lamenting o’er lost days
Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute!
What you can do or think you can , begin it!
Only engage, and then the mind grows heated;
Begin it and the work will be completed.
Opportunity is all around us but sometimes it means adjusting our attitudes. There are those who complain they could never become successful because they lack the tools to succeed such as money, prestige and influence. What one man may cast aside as being insignificant another might use to his advantage. Consider the following poem
Opportunity
This I beheld, or dreamed it in a dream:
There spread a cloud of dust along a plain;
And underneath the cloud, or in it raged
A furious battle, and men yelled, and swords
Shocked upon swords and shields. A prince’s banner
Wavered, then staggered backward, hemmed by foes.
A craven hung along the battle’s edge,
And thought, “Had I a sword of keener steel
That blue blade that the king’s son bears, but this
Blunt thing!’ he snapt and flung it from his hand,
And lowering crept away and left the field.
Then came the king’s son, wounded, sore bestead,
And weaponless, and saw the broken sword,
Hilt buried in the dry and trodden sand,
And ran and snatched it, and with battle -shout
Lifted afresh he hewed his enemy down,
And saved a great cause that heroic day.
Edward Rowland Sill
Opportunity Quotes
I was seldom able to see an opportunity until it had ceased to be one Mark Twain
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. Winston Churchill
The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes

Since Google+ launched a few weeks ago people have been struggling to get on the bandwagon and try it out for themselves. Facebook has quite a lead on Google+ with over 700 million users.Even if Google+ were to gain 1 million users a day it would take over 2 years to catch up.
Some people are already jumping ship to join Google+ and have posted on their walls to catch up with them at Google +. Right now Google+is not ready for business’s and this is a definite advantage for Facebook.
No matter whether you are on Facebook, Twitter or Google+ the goal is to get followers, fans, or gaggles of Googlers.
Enter Michael Lee Johnson Internet Geek, Web application Developer,Technology Virtuoso who came up with a bold plan to run a Google+ advertisement on Facebook.
This struck me as humorous for a variety of reasons, Mark Zuckerburg creator of Facebook on his profile page says “I’m trying to make the world a more open place by helping people connect and share.” How does this help people connect and share? He also has a Google+ account. Is Facebook scared ? Will this cause more people to leave Facebook? Do you think Facebook was right in putting a stop to this before it got out of hand or were they just being paranoid. What are your thoughts on the matter. Why not leave a comment ?
